I know it’s a little late, but I’ve been incredibly busy with family visiting and the holidays and just life in general. This year I tried to reread some of my favorite books, so I obviously didn’t include them in this list because they already had their time to shine. However, here is a list of my top 5 favorite books in 2018, as well as, some honorable mentions:
Kulti by Mariana Zapata. I’m so glad I found Mariana Zapata’s books in my life she’s my new favorite author and I can’t wait to read the rest of her books. Here is my book review for Kulti.
Wait for it by Mariana Zapata. This is a great story of two people who weren’t looking for each other but they found each other anyway. It’s a story about family, friendship, grief and love. It didn’t matter that this book was over 600 pages or that when I read it I had a bunch of other things to do for school, I finished this puppy in less than a week.
The storied life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. This was the last book I read in 2018 and honestly, I couldn’t have picked a better book to end the year with. It was such a touching and funny story, I loved every minute of it. I loved the writing and the characters and basically everything about it. This is a must read for any book lover.
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. This is my favorite Jane Austen novel I’ve read so far. This book was so funny and different from anything I’ve read by Austen, yet it still has Austen’s trademark humor, sarcasm, and wit.
Mistborn by Brandom Sanderson. Guys, this book was incredible. I was completely sucked into it, I couldn’t put it down! I already bought the next two on the series and I can’t wait to read them!
An Ember in the Ashes Series by Sabaa Tahir
Wow this is such an amazing series. It completely blew my mind since the first book. Normally, I don’t think I would have liked or even finished this series because of how much suffering there is in the books (I know, lame excuse, but I read for entertainment not to make myself suffer) Anyway, after I finished the first book I already had the second one, so I thought might as well. BIG MISTAKE, the second one drained me so much mentally I needed a break, but by this point I was already invested in the characters and the story and I needed to know what happened especially to my baby Helene.
So, I ordered the third book from the library thinking I would have time to recover…HA! that didn’t happen, I got the book almost a week later (which is not enough time for me to recover) So I had to read it and boy did this book destroyed me, I was almost afraid to finish it. I cried so much during this book, but at the same time I enjoyed every second of it. I would basically describe my relationship with this series as a love-hate relationship. That’s why it didn’t make it to the favorites list; however, I still acknowledge how incredible and amazing this series is.
That’s it for me! Comment bellow your favorite books of 2018!
Thank you for reading!
