Hey guys! I know I’m like a month late to this tag, but I really wanted to do it, so here I am. I’m not sure who created this tag, so I can’t give credit to the creator. If you know them, please tag them! Now let’s get into it.
1.Best book you’ve read in 2020
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. I read this book at the beginning of the year and, honestly, I’m still not over it. The raw reality and emotion in his life story had me crying and laughing at the same time. Before reading this book, I was already a big Trevor Noah fan, but after reading it I’ve found a new respect for him and everything he’s been through.
2.Best sequel you’ve read in 2020
The Missing of Clairelune by Christille Dado. This book really took me by surprise since I didn’t like the first book as much (see review), but I was curious about the world so I decided to give it shot and wow it really blew me away. See full review.
3.New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
I already know this book is going to destroy me, but it’s fine.
4.Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Another 2 books that are going to destroy me.
Love on Lexington Avenue by Lauren Layne. I was so exited for this book because I LOVED the first one and I waited for MONTHS for this one to become available at my local library just to not even like the both the main characters.
The unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. I was a bit hesitant about this book at the beginning because I haven’t liked the two other books I’ve read by Christina Lauren. But, wow, what a pleasant surprise this book was. It was so cute, and it had me swooning the entire time; needless to say, I loved it, Christina Lauren have revindicated themselves in my eyes with this book.
7.Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
Mhairi McFarlane. I’ve read 3 of her book so far and I love how smart and funny her writing is.
8.Newest fictional crush
Where to start?
- Thorn from A Winte’r Promise
- Darlington from Ninth House
- Ethan from The Unhoneymooners
9. Newest favorite character
Noemi Taboada from Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I’m cheating here because technically I read this book in the second half of the year since I read it in July, but honestly, she’s amazing and I love how determined, smart and resourceful she is.
10.Book that made you cry
Here’s to Looking at You by Mhairi McFarlane. I’m going to cheat again because no book has really made me cry like this one. It’s just so stinkin cute, my poor heart couldn’t handle it. I even had a bit of a book hangover after it.
11. Book that made you happy
The Las Tang Standing by Laure Ho. I was laughing the entire time I was reading this book, that’s how funny it was.
12.Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received
I bought a few books since the pandemic started because the libraries were closed, but none of them have been that beautiful.
13. What book(s) do you need to read before the end of the year?
Thank you for reading!
